Leap Day- February 29

Dear Students! Have you ever observed that February has an additional day on occasion? That is due to a phenomenon known as a leap year!

A leap year is like a special year that comes once every four years. It’s got an extra day, making it 366 days instead of the usual 365.

To keep everything in line with how long it takes for the Earth to orbit the sun, our Earth takes about 365. 25 days to make one full trip around the sun, we add one extra day to the calendar every four years.

Leap Year 2024

Without leap years, the seasons would gradually become unsynchronized with our calendars.

So, think of leap year as a little adjustment we make to keep everything running smoothly. February 29 comes after every 4 years to make the calendar aligned. So, next time you’re enjoying that bonus day in February, remember: it’s not just any day, it’s a leap day or a Leap Year.
